Common Questions

What are the differences between level 1, level 2, and level 3?

Higher levels indicate more education and experience. Regardless of the level that you choose, you can be sure that you will receive superior service and an exceptional experience. All of our lash artists go through an intense and specialized training process to offer the very best lash artistry in Colorado.

Our Lash Apprentices have completed the Vixen Training Program, which includes several lash applications, so they are well on their way to perfecting their techniques and lash speed. These artists work a little slower, so you can get in with them at a hugely discounted rate!

*Please note: due to our already hugely discounted apprentice pricing, we do not accept any additional discounts or coupons for our apprentice services. Additionally, we cannot offer apprentice pricing during rare occurrences when we do not have an apprentice on staff.

What are Lash Extensions and how are they applied?

Extensions are a glamorous new way to extend the length and thickness of natural eyelashes, and are a practical, convenient and beautiful alternative to the daily use of mascara.  Unlike decades-old, traditional false lashes, lash extensions are the first innovation in lash lengthening that can be worn daily, without nightly removal.  Because each tapered, synthetic lash is bonded to a single natural lash, close to the lash line (but not touching) extension are applied carefully, one by one using specially designed tweezers. The final result is of effortless glamour and difficult to detect even close up.

How Long Do They Really Last?

When applied properly, eyelash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes. Everyone’s experience will differ based on day to day activities but over all with minimal monthly maintenance. Re-lash’s are recommended after the initial full set application to Re-lash any lashes that have cycled out.  To maintain the full, thick appearance of a new set of lashes a re-lash visit is recommended every 3-4 weeks based on your own natural lash growth cycle.

Will it hurt?

Not at all! At Vixen, we make sure that everything is done just as it should be – which means zero pain for you! If you’ve ever experienced pain getting eyelash extensions, something wasn’t right with the service. In fact, most of our clients fall asleep – it’s just that chill with us!

How do I choose the look I want?

Eyelash extensions are available in a number of lengths and thickness. We normally consult with you first to see what type of style you are interested in. We also determine what your lashes can hold in regards to size. Each person’s lashes will vary in strength and length. We take this into consideration when creating a look for you. The overall look of the lashes is very natural.

How long will it take to Apply Eyelash Extensions?

The application process for lash extensions normally takes anywhere from 45 min. – 2.5 hours If you go to a newly certified professional it may take up to 3 hours. You will lay comfortably with your eyes closed. The Eyelash professional will then apply an under eye pad to cover your lower lashes . Then the extensions will be applied to each individual eyelash on a hair by hair basis. The procedure is very relaxing, never rushed; We work every set of lashes to perfection. The result is truly amazing and we promise you will love your new lashes!

I love them. How do I keep them up?

We recommend getting a relash every 3 to 4 weeks. If you wait too long your eyelash extensions will fall out and you will require a full set. Your natural eyelashes fall off every 45 – 60 days due to the natural growth cycle and are naturally replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. Other factors such as exposure to steam or touching your eyes a lot may cause the extensions to fall sooner.

Can Lash Extensions Harm Natural Lashes?

When applied properly, lash extensions will not harm natural lashes.  The application technique allows natural lashes to grow and thrive with extensions.  This technique requires several different “separation” steps during the application process so each extension is adhered to a single natural lash in order to prevent interruption of the lash growth cycle.

Are the materials you use safe and good quality?

Yes – the eyelash extension adhesive we use is almost completely fume free, medical grade, and safe for your eyes – so no pain and burning! It is also very long lasting. The eyelash extensions used are the highest quality on the market, and are available in all sorts of lengths and thicknesses, customized to suit you! All equipment is sterilized before each use.

Can I swim, shower, exercise or visit a spa while wearing eyelash extensions?

Yes. In fact this is one of the best things about eyelash extensions – you will have pretty eyes ALL the time – when you wake up, straight out of the shower, out of the pool. We do recommend however that you don’t use heavy water, such as in the shower on your lashes for about 12- 24 hours after the eyelash application. A light Mist is fine, just don’t rub them or use detergents or oily soaps.

Mascara is typically not needed with lash extensions.  Mascara should only be used when a re-lash is drawing near.  Water-soluble mascara can be worn; however constant use of mascara may shorten the lifespan of lashes.  Waterproof mascara is not recommended for use, as it will dissolve the bond with the lashes. Glycol and carbonate free mascara is specifically formulated for use on extensions without interfering with the adhesive.

Once Applied What Is The Proper Way To Care For Lashes?

Following these important after-care instructions will aid in extending the life of your lash extensions. The first 24-48 hours following your application are most crucial. Avoid direct water spray on your extensions, do not allow use a steam bath, swim, or wash your face directly with hot water during your initial 24 hours of the application. Care must be taken not to rub your eyes, pull your lashes, or scratch. Also, any creams, eye makeup removers, lotions, or cleansers containing oils can loosen the bond of the lash extensions. Conditioning is necessary to maximize the life of the extensions. Nighttime conditioning/cleansing pads are perfect for cleaning the lashes free of any makeup or debris while moisturizing the lashes to maintain flexibility.  Using a lash wand to comb the lashes free of tangles is also recommended.

It is not necessary to use an eyelash curler, it may break both the lash extension and your natural lashes.

Do not rub your eyes or lashes when washing your face, gently clean around the Eyes with a wash cloth or fingers.

Do not pull on your lash extensions, it may take out your own natural lash as well.

We carry a range of after care products specifically made for eyelash extensions.
